MARTIN BOLTON SHOCKS BARNSEY WITH HORRIFIC SEXUAL ABUSE OF 7-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Barnsley, Martin Bolton, a young man with no employment at the time, was convicted of heinous crimes involving a young girl.The incident, which spanned over a year and a half, involved Bolton repeatedly sexually assaulting and raping a seven-year-old girl, actions that have left a lasting scar on the victim and her family.
During the proceedings at Sheffield Crown Court, it was revealed that Bolton's abuse was almost daily, a pattern of predatory behavior that persisted over 18 months.
The court heard that Bolton used threats to silence his young victim, including threats to kill her, in an attempt to prevent her from revealing the abuse.
This intimidation added a layer of terror to an already traumatic experience for the child.
Bolton, who was identified as residing in Kendray, was found guilty of these grave offenses and was subsequently sentenced to an indeterminate, or open-ended, prison term.
The court's decision reflects the severity of his crimes and the potential risk he poses to society, particularly to children.
He will remain incarcerated until the parole board determines that he no longer presents a danger to the public.
As of March 2016, Martin Bolton was held at Seagrave open prison in Lincolnshire.
Authorities indicated that he was likely to be released later that year, raising ongoing concerns about the safety of children in the community and the importance of monitoring offenders after their release.
