MAN JAILED FOR RAPE AND CONTROLLING BEHAVIOUR
A man has been sentenced to prison following conviction for rape and controlling behaviour after months of subjecting a woman to abuse. The woman disclosed in September 2024 that she had been raped by Mark Williams at a residence in Walsall.
During a recorded interview conducted by the police, she also stated that Williams had limited her access to financial resources and her interactions with friends and family.
She also found that he had secretly installed cameras in her home.
Supporting evidence included text messages from Williams, which the woman showed to officers, along with additional proof from her family members.
Williams, who is 40 years old, was taken into custody three days after she made her report.
He was then charged with rape and with engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour.
At an earlier trial session, Williams, living on Hockley Close, Birmingham, admitted to the charges partway through the case at Birmingham Crown Court.
He has been handed a sentence of ten years and two months in prison.
