MARK PROCTOR FROM GLASGOW INVOLVED IN SEXUAL ASSAULT ON TRAIN BETWEEN EASTERHOUSE AND HIGH STREET
On September 3, 2023, a disturbing incident unfolded aboard a train traveling between Easterhouse and High Street stations in Glasgow, involving a man identified as Mark Proctor, aged 48, from Baillieston. The incident was characterized by inappropriate and threatening behavior that caused significant distress to the female passenger involved.According to court reports, Proctor took a seat directly opposite the woman during the journey. Without warning, he made a disturbing remark, stating, "I would," which immediately set a threatening tone. Following this, he proceeded to make physical advances by touching her legs and rubbing her with his foot, actions that clearly crossed personal boundaries and constituted sexual harassment.
The woman, attempting to defend herself, responded by kicking him away in an effort to deter his unwanted advances. However, Proctor persisted in his harassment by placing his legs over hers, which compelled her to move to another carriage in an attempt to escape the situation. Despite her efforts to distance herself, Proctor followed her and sat across from her once again, further intimidating her and escalating her sense of threat.
The victim later described feeling as if Proctor was planning to follow her to her home or cause her harm, which heightened her fear and prompted her to contact the British Transport Police. Law enforcement officials acted swiftly, tracing Proctor and arresting him in connection with the incident.
During a court hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court, Proctor pleaded guilty to the charge of sexual assault. His legal representative explained that Proctor was intoxicated at the time of the incident and expressed remorse for his actions. The court decided to defer sentencing to allow for the preparation of background reports. In the meantime, Proctor was ordered to register on the sex offenders register and was scheduled to appear again in court next month to face further proceedings.
