SON WHO BROKE FATHER’S JAW WHILE ‘MANHANDLING’ HIM FOLLOWING DRUNKEN ROW IS JAILED
A SON has been put behind bars after breaking his fatherâs jaw by âmanhandlingâ him following a drunken row.
The court heard that the defendant, 35-year-old Mark Meredith, pulled his father from a couch while he was asleep, causing him to hit his head and back on a brick wall.
The incident was caused after a day spent in each other's company, visiting a bowling alley, and Meredith's subsequent drunken abusive behavior, including calling his then-girlfriend names and attempting to headbutt her.
Meredith also accused his father of âtrying it onâ with his ex-partner.
He was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court to two years immediate imprisonment and made the subject of restraining orders.
The court outlined that Meredith has 50 previous convictions for numerous offences and had last been convicted in November for driving while disqualified and failing to provide a specimen.
The judge noted the seriousness of his assault in a domestic context, especially given his past record.
