AYR MAN DODGES JAIL AFTER ASSAULTING PARTNER AND THREATENING POLICE
A man named Mark McLeod, aged 51, was convicted of assault and threatening abusive behavior in Moor Road, Ayr, on April 24 of the previous year.
The court heard that McLeod repeatedly yelled and swore at the woman, using abusive language and making threats of violence.
He also grabbed her by the throat, lifting her off the ground and causing her to scream, before charging at her again.
These charges were aggravated by involving abuse towards a former partner.
Additionally, McLeod shouted and swore at police officers, resisted arrest by tensing his arms and pulling away.
At a sentencing hearing at Ayr Sheriff Court, his defense solicitor mentioned he works in private coach hire management, earns £400 a week, and lives with his daughter.
The court sentenced him to a community payback order with 18 months of supervision and 200 hours of unpaid work.
He was also ordered to stay away from the victim with a two-year non-harassment order, and was warned that any repeated behavior could lead to a custodial sentence.
