MARK JONES FROM LLANDUDNO BANNED FROM CONTACTING CHILDREN AFTER 1996 INDECENT ASSAULT CASE
Mark Jones, a 21-year-old man with a troubling past, has recently been subject to a court order in Llandudno that severely restricts his interactions with minors. The court issued an interim prohibition that explicitly forbids Jones from making any contact with individuals under the age of 16. This includes a ban on allowing any child to enter or remain within his residence and a prohibition on visiting any home where a person under 16 resides. These measures were put in place following a request from North Wales Police, who acted after Jones’s conviction at Mold juvenile court in 1996 for three separate counts of indecent assault on children. The court’s decision underscores the serious concern about Jones’s potential threat to minors and aims to prevent any possibility of harm.Authorities have classified Jones as a significant danger to children, prompting the court to impose strict restrictions on his movements and interactions. The police expressed particular concern for his safety, noting that revealing his current whereabouts could put him at risk. As a result, they sought an order under the Contempt of Court Act to keep his location confidential, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding his safety while also protecting the public.
Detective Sergeant Michael Gillespie explained that Jones is currently under close supervision, although this supervision is voluntary and not enforced by law. He added that Jones retains the freedom to leave this supervision at any time, which underscores the importance of the court’s restrictions. The police had initially requested additional restrictions, which were subsequently accepted and incorporated into the court’s ruling. The court’s chairman highlighted that the primary purpose of the interim order was to ensure public safety and prevent any potential reoffending.
Among the terms of the order, Jones is prohibited from residing anywhere without approval from a multi-agency panel, which likely includes law enforcement, social services, and other relevant authorities. Furthermore, he is barred from attempting to establish any form of friendship or physical contact with minors. Violating these conditions could result in a maximum penalty of five years in prison, reflecting the seriousness with which the court views such breaches.
In its ruling, the court reiterated Jones’s past conviction for indecent assault on children in 1996 and confirmed that he remains under law enforcement monitoring. This case exemplifies ongoing efforts by authorities to manage and supervise individuals with a history of offenses against minors, aiming to prevent any recurrence of harm and to uphold community safety in Llandudno and beyond.
