BRISTOL MAN MARK HOOK SENTENCED FOR BESTIALITY AND CHILD ABUSE

In August 2017, Mark Hook, a 38-year-old from Bristol who used the online alias ‘DirtyBristolBoi,’ was sentenced to over three years in prison for heinous crimes including bestiality and child abuse. Hook was filmed engaging in sexual acts with his male Labrador, with footage showing him being penetrated by the dog, and he subsequently shared this material online.

Police investigations uncovered additional horrifying content on Hook’s devices, including extreme child abuse videos and images involving babies, along with bestiality imagery. The court heard that Hook, who lived at his parents' home in Bristol, became involved in these activities after a long-term relationship ended, leading him into a drug-fueled and socially isolated lifestyle.

Bristol Crown Court was told that Hook spent hours alone in his room, engaging in drug use—specifically snorting Mephedrone—and sharing vile images of child rape with other pedophiles online. His disturbing actions began to surface in late 2014 when a friend filmed him abusing his Labrador on a farm in Somerset.

In April 2016, police seized Hook’s iPhone, laptop, and external hard drive, discovering numerous horrifying images and videos. They found 20 videos of Hook abusing his dog, recorded over seven different dates, as well as 797 extreme pornographic images of bestiality. These files had been shared via messaging platforms such as Skype, Kik, and WhatsApp.

Hook, who was residing in Hartcliffe, Bristol, admitted to ten charges related to the creation and distribution of child abuse images, possession of extreme pornography, and bestiality—including having sex with the dog, filming it, and sharing the footage.

Judge Mark Horton sentenced Hook to three years and two months in prison, describing him as a man who had been viewing "the worst kinds of sexual acts imaginable against a human being." The judge stated, “You are part of an ever-growing plague of men in this society who present as men of honesty, integrity, and family values. But behind closed doors, you conceal very dark secrets. You sit in private rooms with computers and seek out the most appalling sexual degradation and abuse of young children and babies.”

Earlier in July 2017, Hook appeared at Bristol Crown Court, where he admitted to multiple charges including having sex with his dog and allowing it to penetrate him, along with creating indecent images of children, possessing extreme pornography, and distributing such material. The court also heard he faced a significant risk of imprisonment.

Judge Horton granted him bail for further legal preparation, with sentencing scheduled for August 11, which was expected to last around two hours. Hook chose not to comment as he left the courtroom. His guilty pleas covered three counts of making indecent images of children, possession of extreme pornographic images, permitting sexual acts with an animal, distributing indecent images of children, and publishing obscene articles. Prosecutor James Ward indicated that the case was ready to proceed to sentencing.
