DAD STABBED EX-PARTNER NINE TIMES IN FRONT OF THEIR CHILD
A man from Hartcliffe, Bristol, identified as Liam Davis, aged 26, inflicted nine stab wounds on his former partner, Jodie, in front of their child at her home in Southmead during April.Following the assault, he drove off with their child.
During a court session at Bristol Crown Court, Jodie questioned Davis, asking whether his hatred on that day was so intense that he intended to kill her.
On Wednesday, Judge William Hart sentenced Davis to a 17-year term for attempted murder.
Although Davis initially admitted to causing grievous bodily harm with intent, a trial held in late September resulted in a conviction for attempted murder.
During the sentencing, the judge noted that Davis switched weapons when one became unusable or unsuitable, and that the attack was interrupted by the child's screams, prompting Davis to remove her from the scene, leaving Jodie untreated.
In her victim impact statement, Jodie, whose name is protected, mentioned that Davis never explained his actions and that she might never understand his motives.
She also voiced concerns about how the incident could affect their child's future.
