BRISTOL COUPLE STARVED AND NEGLECTED TWO DOGS IN APPALLING CONDITIONS
Amy Haddow and Michael Kinloch pleaded guilty to an animal welfare offence in relation to a Cane Corso called Teddy and a French bulldog named Stitch.
Their conviction followed an investigation and prosecution by the RSPCA.
Inspector Dan Hatfield reported that the flat smelt of urine and faeces, with smeared faeces on the stairs.
Stitch's cage had urine soaked bedding and no access to water; he was underweight with visible spine, ribs, and hips.
Teddy was found roaming the bedroom, also very thin with visible bones and no access to water.
Both dogs were severely malnourished, with a vet scoring just 1 out of 9 for body condition.
Teddy, who had been so neglected his bones protruded through his fur, was unable to recover and was put to sleep.
Both dogs were seized by the RSPCA, with Stitch rehomed after recovery.
The couple received a 12-month community order, with Haddow completing 10 rehabilitation days and Kinloch 80 hours of unpaid work, along with fines and a 10-year ban from owning animals, which they can appeal after five years.
