MARK HOARE FROM HUYTON CAUGHT IN FACEBOOK LIVE PAEDOPHILE STING IN LIVERPOOL
In April 2018, a disturbing incident unfolded involving Mark Hoare, a 30-year-old man from Huyton, who was caught in a sting operation aimed at exposing online predators.Hoare, who has publicly admitted to being a 'sex addict,' believed he was engaging in conversations with a 14-year-old girl.
During these interactions, he sent explicit images, including a photograph of his own genitalia, in an attempt to initiate a sexual encounter.
Unbeknownst to him, Hoare's online activities were being monitored by the group Hunting 4 Justice, a volunteer organization dedicated to catching individuals seeking to exploit minors.
The group had set up a decoy profile, posing as a teenage girl, to lure potential offenders.
When Hoare began communicating with the decoy, he engaged in sexual chats over a span of two days in February of that year.
These conversations took place on the online dating platform Oasis, where he also sent two explicit photos depicting a man and woman engaged in sexual activity.
During the confrontation, a member of Hunting 4 Justice questioned Hoare about the nature of their exchanges.
His responses were evasive; he claimed, “I don’t remember that,” and “I’m not too sure,” when asked about the explicit messages.
Hoare also acknowledged that he maintained two separate online accounts but failed to address the incriminating messages clearly.
The group’s members then inquired about a tattoo on his arm, which Hoare confirmed he had.
He was shown a photograph he had previously sent, which clearly displayed the same tattoos, further linking him to the online images.
The footage of the sting, which lasted nearly an hour, captured Hoare’s reactions and admissions.
He acknowledged that he knew what he was doing was wrong and expressed feelings of loneliness as a motive for his actions.
He admitted to arranging to meet a girl he believed was under 16 for sexual activity and also pleaded guilty to causing a 14-year-old child to view an explicit image of sexual activity involving another person.
During the court proceedings at Liverpool Crown Court, Recorder Thomas Ryan addressed the severity of the case.
He noted that Hoare was aware of the girl’s age and her status as a virgin, and he tried to persuade her to meet him for sex.
The judge stated that he did not believe Hoare would have refrained from meeting her, even if sexual activity was not ultimately carried out.
Given the gravity of the offences, Recorder Ryan sentenced Hoare to 12 months in prison.
Additionally, he imposed a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and ordered Hoare to register as a sex offender for ten years, emphasizing the serious nature of his crimes and the need for ongoing monitoring.
