MAN JAILED FOR 16 MONTHS AFTER VICIOUS DOMESTIC ASSAULT AND LIFETIME RESTRAINING ORDER
Women have been warned against Scott Connolly after he was convicted of abusing his third partner.Connolly, aged 38, was sentenced to 16 months in prison and received a seven-year restraining order following a brutal attack on the mother of his children.
The assault occurred after she put their children to bed, during which Connolly launched a savage attack, lifting her off the floor, dragging her, punching her multiple times, and kicking her while demanding not to call the police.
His violence only stopped when a delivery driver arrived with a pizza, allowing him to leave through the back door.
The court heard this was his third conviction for violence against women—his first in 2006 involving actual bodily harm, and his second in 2011 which resulted in 18 months’ imprisonment for headbutting and striking another girlfriend.
Connolly had been in a relationship with the victim for about eight years and had two children with her.
Prosecutor Michael O'Brien described how Connolly’s abuse escalated after the victim began a new relationship in June, resulting in a series of abusive messages and physical violence.
The court was shown a picture of Connolly, who was given 16 months in prison and a seven-year restraining order for assault occasioning actual bodily harm and harassment.
The judge commented on the seriousness of his domestic violence, noting the attack was sustained and that his children were present in the house at the time.
Reactions from the public included strong condemnation of Connolly, with many warning women to recognize and stay away from him, describing him as a 'sub-human coward' and a 'typical bully' who targets weaker individuals.
