MARK FLINTHAM ABINGDON GOOSE CRUELTY SHOCKER

In a disturbing incident that has shocked the community of Abingdon, Mark Flintham, born on December 8, 1968, and residing at Lock House, Abingdon Lock, was involved in a brutal attack on a defenseless wild goose in Abbey Meadows.

The incident occurred between 2:30 pm and 3:30 pm on August 10, 2022, and was witnessed by several members of the public who were present in the park at the time.

According to reports, Flintham was seen grabbing the wild goose with apparent aggression.

What followed was a series of violent actions that have been described as deeply disturbing by police authorities.

Flintham proceeded to stamp on the bird, kick it, and even attempted to break its neck.

The attack was so severe that the goose was left lifeless, and Flintham then took the injured bird away from the scene of the incident.

Photographs captured outside the court show Flintham holding the injured goose, highlighting the severity of the case.

The incident was thoroughly investigated by Thames Valley Police’s rural crime taskforce, which led to Flintham being formally charged on January 18, 2023.

Initially, Flintham pleaded not guilty to the charges.

However, after a court trial, he was found guilty of the offence.

Under the provisions of the UK Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, it is illegal to kill or injure any wild animal, including wild birds, unless authorized by a license.

Flintham’s actions clearly violated these regulations.

In terms of sentencing, Flintham received an 18-week prison sentence, which was suspended for 18 months.

Additionally, he was ordered to undergo alcohol treatment and participate in rehabilitation activities.

The court also imposed a fine of £304 to cover costs associated with the case.

Furthermore, Flintham was disqualified from keeping any animals for a period of five years, a ban that will expire in May 2028.

This case has sparked outrage among animal rights advocates and local residents alike, emphasizing the importance of protecting wildlife from cruelty and abuse.
