PAEDOPHILE JAILED FOR EXPLOITING 10-YEAR-OLD GIRL ONLINE
A paedophile has been jailed for getting a 10-year-old girl to send him indecent videos and pictures of herself.Warped Mark Finnemore, 44, also told the girl that he wanted to “have sex with her all night long”.
Finnemore, from St Kew near Bodmin, appeared at Truro Crown Court for sentence having pleaded guilty to two charges of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and sexual communication with a child.
Prosecutor Felicity Payne described how the offences took place over one evening in December 2020.
Much of what she described is too graphic to report, but she stated that Finnemore connected with the victim on Snapchat, which the girl accepted.
The case was initiated when police traced a chat where Finnemore initially discussed their ages; the girl said she was 12, although she was actually 10, to which Finnemore responded that he was too old for her.
The conversation quickly turned sexual, with Finnemore requesting and receiving indecent images and videos of the girl, and engaging in explicit chat.
During police interview, Finnemore admitted everything, including sending and receiving images.
He claimed he was drunk at the time, tried to delete the content the next day, and showed genuine remorse and shame.
The victim's mother provided a statement describing ongoing distress and the impact on her family, noting that her daughter’s personality, confidence, and behavior have been affected.
The girl spoke about feeling sad, upset, scared, and feeling compelled to comply.
Representing Finnemore, Rupert Taylor said he accepted the offences, was remorseful, and that his life was in turmoil at the time, adding that he no longer drinks alcohol.
Judge Simon Carr sentenced Finnemore to three years in prison, ordered him to sign the sex offenders’ register for life, and issued a sexual harm prevention order.
The judge emphasized the significant psychological impact on the victim and the rapid escalation of sexual content during their chat.
