PENRYN CHEF JAILED FOR HARASSMENT AND THREATENING TO RELEASE SEXUAL IMAGES
Mark Dean, aged 45, from St Thomas Street in Penryn, was convicted for harassment and threatening to disclose sexual images of his former partner after their relationship ended.Dean bombarded the victim with hundreds of messages and made threats to release intimate pictures of her unless she consented to sexual acts.
Some images he threatened to share were taken without her knowledge.
The victim reported that Dean had caused her to live in fear and exhaustion, especially after he let himself into her home while she was sleeping, which increased her distress.
Dean's behavior escalated to banging on her door and shouting her name, with her feeling very frightened due to previous threats and incidents of invasion of privacy.
Despite her clear refusal, Dean continued to harass her through calls and messages via Facebook and WhatsApp.
During sentencing at Truro Crown Court, Judge Simon Carr emphasized that the victim did not want any contact with Dean and that his actions aimed to humiliate her severely, closely resembling blackmail.
Dean was sentenced to eight months in jail and a five-year restraining order was imposed to prevent further contact.
