MARC ELSE'S BRUTAL ATTACK ON PET DOG IN SUTTON-IN-ASHTFIELD LEADS TO SENTENCE

In a disturbing incident that unfolded in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Marc Anthony Else, born on October 12, 1989, and residing on Priestsic Road in Huthwaite, became involved in a violent assault that resulted in the tragic death of his pet dog. The events took place during the early hours of the morning, when Else reportedly lost his temper after an altercation with his dog, a white Staffy named Ellie.

According to reports, Else claimed that Ellie had bitten him in the face, which he used as a justification for his subsequent actions. The dog, who was already in poor health, then defecated on the carpet and curtains inside the house, further aggravating Else’s anger. In a fit of rage, he grabbed Ellie by the throat and forcefully threw her out of the house, causing severe abdominal injuries. The assault did not end there; Else then dragged the injured dog back inside, placed her in the bathtub, and bit a chunk out of her ear, inflicting additional trauma.

Following this, Else confined Ellie in a cage downstairs in his home. Later, he admitted himself to a hospital, citing a desire to undergo a mental health assessment. Tragically, Ellie succumbed to her injuries the following morning. A post-mortem examination revealed that the dog was underweight and had suffered from fractures to her liver. Additionally, she was bleeding from her left ear, which had been partly torn off during the attack.

Else faced charges of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal. During the court proceedings, it was disclosed that he had a history of childhood abuse, which may have contributed to his behavior. He is currently receiving psychiatric treatment to address underlying issues. The court sentenced Else to a suspended 18-week jail term and imposed a ten-year ban on keeping animals, a restriction that expired in December 2022.

This case highlights the tragic consequences of animal cruelty and the importance of mental health support for individuals with a history of abuse or behavioral issues. The incident has left the local community in Sutton-in-Ashfield deeply disturbed and underscores the need for vigilance in animal welfare cases.
