SUTTON-IN-ASHFIELD MAN TEARY-EYED AS HE PLEADS GUILTY TO CONTROLLING BEHAVIOR TOWARDS WOMAN
A defendant wiped away tears and issued an apology after he admitted to using coercive and controlling behavior towards a woman.Reece Edwards, aged 21, from Downing Street in Sutton-in-Ashfield, entered a guilty plea at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday, August 3.
He was accused of controlling and coercing a woman with whom he had a personal connection between May 22, 2020, and June 29, 2023.
His behavior reportedly caused her to fear that violence would be used against her on two separate occasions.
Edwards expressed remorse by stating, "I am sorry," during the proceedings via a video link from HMP Nottingham, where he is currently detained until sentencing.
Judge James Sampson ordered a pre-sentence report to consider all options and adjourned the case until September 14.
The judge advised Edwards that cooperating with the report would be in his best interest and that the report would aid the sentencing judge.
