SUTTON-IN-ASHFIELD MAN JAILED FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND HARASSMENT
A violent partner had his girlfriend's name on his phone stored under an obscene name.
Andrew Dove referred to her by the term "piece of ****" on his handset.
Dove, aged 30, of Stoneyford Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield, appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday (May 5) to face charges of harassment, causing criminal damage, and two offences of assault by beating, which he admitted.
One assault involved him grabbing her around the throat and squeezing, causing reddening around her neck on February 28 this year.
He assaulted her again on March 5, pushing her into a door frame and smashing cups and plates at her home.
The harassment included sending numerous unwanted text messages filled with unpleasant language and threats related to their children and her property.
Dove also threatened to kill her and slit her throat.
The victim reported feeling emotionally battered and installed CCTV for her protection.
Dove has previous convictions for a public order offence, battery, criminal damage, and using violence to enter premises.
He admitted to offending during a 12-month conditional discharge for property damage.
The judge described his behavior as "despicable" and sentenced him to 12 months imprisonment and imposed a restraining order.
