GOSPORT PAEDOPHILE JAILED FOR TEN YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES
A paedophile named Marc Daniel Ward, aged 29, has been sentenced to ten years in prison for a series of sexual offences involving a child.
Ward, who was formerly residing on Brewers Lane in Gosport, pleaded guilty to nine counts of sexual activity with a child, one count of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, and one count of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
He appeared at Portsmouth Crown Court on a Friday, where he received a decade-long custodial sentence along with an extended licence period of four years.
During the sentencing, Detective Sergeant Claire Ratcliffe stated, “It takes an incredibly amount of bravery to report abuse to anyone, and we commend the child involved in this case for their courage throughout this police investigation.
No child should ever have to suffer, and we are committed to bringing to justice those who target children in this way.” She also expressed relief that Ward is now incarcerated and cannot harm another child.
Officers encouraged anyone aware of abuse to contact the police or charities like NSPCC and Childline for help.
Ward previously admitted to the charges, which include sexual acts with a minor and inciting a child to engage in sexual activities.
His sentencing underscores the authorities’ dedication to protecting children from sexual predators, and he will serve ten years in prison, followed by an extended supervision period.
