TEENAGER JAILED FOR SIX YEARS AFTER GOSPORT STABBING
A teenager has been sentenced to six years in a young offenders' institution after stabbing a woman six times in Gosport.Teejay Scott, aged 19, of The Anchorage in Gosport, pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a knife in a public place.
The attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday, July 28, 2024, following an altercation with a 28-year-old woman on Gosport High Street.
About an hour later, near Walpole Park where she was waiting for a lift, Scott approached her and stabbed her six times before fleeing.
The victim was able to call for help, was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital, and underwent surgery.
Detective Constable Ethan Beesley, who led the investigation, stated: "Scott’s sentence...
is for a significant period and sends a clear message that we do not tolerate violence against women and girls or knife crime in Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight.
Luckily, her injuries were not life-threatening, but Scott’s actions could have caused much more serious harm." He added, "I hope this sentence helps the victim find closure and move on with her life.
No one should go out and be subjected to threats or violence, and we will continue to ensure that those who carry knives face the full consequences for their actions." The judge at Portsmouth Crown Court handed Scott the sentence on Tuesday, July 15.
