COMMUNITY COUNCILLOR FOUND GUILTY OF ASSAULTING WIFE
A community council member named Malcolm Scobie has been convicted of assaulting his wife by pushing her down a flight of stairs.The incident occurred at their residence in Main Street, Aberuthven, after she goaded him about an alleged affair she suspected he was having.
During the court trial, it was stated that Scobie, 44, flew into a rage and pushed his wife, Catherine, causing her to lose her footing and tumble down the stairs.
The court heard that there had been ongoing tension between them over her belief that he was 'playing away' with another woman.
Scobie admitted there had been a violent altercation but claimed he had been attacked by his wife as he tried to escape her nagging.

Scobie told the court that she had poked her finger into her husband's torso but was shocked when he turned around and pushed her down the stairs.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis found Scobie guilty of assault, deliberately knocking his wife down the stairs, and of threatening or abusive behavior through shouting and swearing on April 21, 2019.
The judge noted the high credibility of the victim's testimony and stated that the incident was emotionally charged due to relationship breakdown.
Scobie was fined £750 and is involved in local community council activities.
