The incident occurred on December 8 when Clark attended a house party before moving to another residence where he attacked his victim.
The court heard that Clark became angry and aggressive, punching the woman in the face, grabbing a knife, and locking her inside the house with the keys in his pocket to prevent her escape.
He threw objects around the house, assaulted her with slaps and blows, and threatened her by saying ‘do you want to see evil’ while ripping his shirt and snapping his belt.
Clark also struck the victim in the ribs and put a vacuum cleaner cable around her neck.
Subsequently, he dragged her to a bed and raped her.
The victim managed to escape through a window and seek medical treatment for bruising and swelling.
Clark was arrested later that day and initially denied the allegations, claiming the victim was making it all up.
The court revealed that the victim suffered severe psychological trauma, including post-traumatic stress disorder.
Clark pleaded guilty to rape, assault, and false imprisonment.
The judge, Recorder Andrew Long, condemned his actions, stating that Clark was angry, aggressive, and violent during the attack, and that the victim had been left traumatised.
Despite Clark's remorse and request for help, the court sentenced him to nine years’ imprisonment.
