LUZ ASSUNCAO PREDATOR FROM WIGAN SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC CHILD RAPE CASE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Wigan, Luiz Assuncao, aged 41, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being found guilty of subjecting a young child to a series of heinous sexual assaults.
The abuse, which took place over a period of time, involved Assuncao raping his young victim on a total of 17 separate occasions, all while the child was under the age of 13.
Details of the case reveal that the victim, demonstrating remarkable courage, confided in her mother about the abuse.
Her mother promptly contacted law enforcement authorities, leading to Assuncao's arrest.
During police interrogation, Assuncao was uncooperative, choosing to respond with 'no comment' to all 166 questions posed to him.
Despite his silence during questioning, the evidence against him was overwhelming.
In April, during a hearing at Bolton Crown Court, Assuncao pleaded guilty to 17 counts of rape, acknowledging the gravity of his crimes.
His plea marked a significant moment in the case, bringing some measure of closure to the young victim and her family.
Today, Luiz Assuncao, of Drummond Square, Wigan, was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
Additionally, he is required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life and will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order, which aims to restrict his activities and prevent further offenses.
The sentencing underscores the severity of his crimes and the ongoing efforts of the justice system to protect vulnerable children from predators like Assuncao.
