WOMAN JAILED FOR STABBING LOVER
A woman named Louisa Ovington has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the manslaughter of her former lover, Maurice Hilton, aged 46, of Dormant Villa, Station Town, near Peterlee. The incident occurred on 8 January at her residence in Beechdale Close.
Ovington attacked Hilton with a kitchen knife, resulting in his death in the hospital shortly after the attack.
She later sent a text message to a friend claiming she had 'seen red' after Hilton boasted about previous sexual conquests.
Ovington had pleaded guilty to manslaughter at an earlier hearing at Newcastle Crown Court.
The judge described her as emotionally unstable with a history of drug and alcohol abuse.
Despite being in a turbulent relationship and taking a break, Hilton and Ovington met on the night of the attack.
Hilton was a divorced father of three who died following the assault.
