LOUIS KILLIP FROM BARROW-IN-FURNESS CHARGED WITH SEX OFFENSES AND SHPO BREACHES IN CUMBRIA

A man with a troubling criminal history has recently faced serious allegations in connection with his previous convictions and ongoing violations of court orders. Louis Killip, a resident of Vernon Street in Barrow-in-Furness, has been formally charged with multiple offenses related to his failure to adhere to the strict conditions imposed by his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and his obligations under the sex offenders register.

Killip’s criminal record includes a significant conviction from August 2023, when he was sentenced to 18 months in prison after being found guilty of attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity and attempting to communicate sexually with a minor. The incidents leading to his imprisonment occurred between November 16 and December 3, 2020. During that period, Killip used social media platforms to target a young girl, believing her to be 14 years old. Specifically, he utilized Snapchat to solicit explicit images and sent pictures of his own genitals to the girl, which led to his initial conviction and the imposition of the SHPO and notification requirements.

Despite these court orders, Killip has allegedly failed to comply with several of his legal obligations. Court documents reveal that on January 23 of this year, he did not notify authorities about multiple aliases and usernames he used across various social media platforms, including Facebook, Google, Instagram, and TikTok. Furthermore, he is accused of neglecting to produce an internet-enabled mobile device when requested by police on January 21, which is a breach of his reporting duties under the sex offenders register.

In addition to these violations, the Crown Prosecution Service has charged Killip with making an indecent photograph of a child on November 11, 2024. This serious allegation adds to the list of his alleged misconduct. During a court hearing at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on January 25, Killip did not enter a plea to the charges. As a result, the case was transferred to Preston Crown Court, where he is scheduled to appear for a plea and trial preparation hearing on February 26.

Given his previous record and the nature of the allegations, magistrates decided to remand Killip into custody ahead of his next court appearance. The decision was influenced by concerns that he might reoffend, and he was considered a risk to the community. The case continues to develop as authorities pursue justice and ensure public safety in the region of Barrow-in-Furness and the wider Cumbria area.
