A Rhyl man who punched and kicked his partner to her face and head then told her: “You got what you deserved.” Lloyd Thomas, who had previous convictions for violence against Mia Flynn, attacked her and continued to harass her over the following three weeks.Thomas, 33, of Morlan Park, was sentenced to 18 months in prison at Mold Crown Court after admitting to actual bodily harm, threatening with a bladed article, and harassment.
Prosecutor Amy Edwards stated that on June 1 at 11 pm, a doorman at Tinkers Bar on Wellington Road, Rhyl noticed tension between Thomas and Ms Flynn.
She was crying in the beer garden and expressed concerns about being beaten, yet was allowed to stay.
Thomas remained outside, threatening to damage windows and sending abusive messages.
When the bar closed, Ms Flynn walked home with Connor Bonny and was attacked by Thomas in the Morrison’s supermarket car park.
He punched her in the face, then kicked her to the head and face, and threatened them both with a knife.
Ms Flynn sustained a head wound, a bloodied nose, and bruising.
Thomas was arrested the next day and re-arrested on June 23.
Following his release on bail, he phoned Ms Flynn multiple times, including nine calls in one day, threatening to continue his abuse and claiming she was his 'bird.' He has 12 previous convictions for 35 offences.
Ms Flynn reported feeling unsafe and suffering nightmares and emotional distress from the abuse.
The court issued a 10-year domestic abuse protection order for her.
Judge Nicola Jones emphasized that Thomas should not have been bailed and described Ms Flynn as a 'very resilient lady.' She ordered the sentence and protective order to ensure her safety.
