LINUS RICKETT FROM ABINGDON JAILED FOR CHILD SEXUAL OFFENCES IN OXFORD
In a significant case brought to light by Thames Valley Police, Linus Rickett, a 20-year-old resident of Abingdon, has been sentenced to prison following a series of disturbing child sexual offences. The investigation into Rickett’s activities culminated in his arrest and subsequent court proceedings that revealed a pattern of heinous crimes committed over a span of nearly two years.
Rickett was formally charged on January 25 of the same year, and after a thorough legal process, he pleaded guilty to all charges on March 4.
The case was brought before Oxford Crown Court, where the judge delivered a sentencing that reflects the severity of his actions.
On March 20, Rickett was sentenced to five years in prison, with an additional three years on extended licence, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities upon release.
The charges against Rickett encompass a disturbing array of offences involving minors.
Specifically, he was convicted of six counts of inciting a boy under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity, along with one additional count of incitement.
These offences highlight a pattern of predatory behavior targeting very young children.
Furthermore, Rickett was found guilty of three counts of voyeurism, which involved secretly observing children without their knowledge or consent.
In addition to these offences, Rickett was convicted of making indecent images of children, with the images categorized into three different levels of severity.
He was found to have produced 106 images classified as Category A, 514 images in Category B, and a staggering 3,181 images in Category C.
These images depict the exploitation and abuse of minors, and their possession underscores the gravity of his crimes.
The offences took place over a period from February 2017 to October 2018, during which ten boys aged between nine and 13 years old were targeted.
The impact on these young victims is profound, and the case underscores the importance of vigilant law enforcement and community awareness in protecting vulnerable children.
As part of his sentence, Rickett will be registered on the sex offender register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
Additionally, he will be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which imposes restrictions on his behavior to prevent further harm.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing efforts by authorities to combat child exploitation and bring offenders to justice.
