BLURTON MAN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT USING RESTRAINT
Sex offender Lindsey Butler has been jailed for four years and two months‘Aggressive’ Lindsey Butler is behind bars after committing a catalogue of sexual offences.The 44-year-old has been locked up after admitting five counts of sexual assault against the same woman over a four-year period.Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard Butler had restrained his victim by placing a pillow over her head.Now Butler, of Brookside Drive, Blurton, has been jailed for four years and two months.It has emerged the victim is still being supported by the authorities.Prosecutor Paul Spratt told the court: “Butler used the victim for his own sexual gratification.
He placed a pillow on the victim’s head to prevent her from being heard and would aggressively restrain her.”The court heard there is a ‘slim chance’ of Butler reoffending.Charles Hamer, mitigating, said: “The act of restraint was aggressive but not violent.”Jailing the defendant, Judge Timothy Smith told Butler: “Your victim is smaller and frailer than you and you used that to your advantage when restraining her.
You have been sexually abusive to the victim several times over a number of years.
I am sentencing you to four years and two months in prison of which you will serve no more than half of that in prison before being released on licence.”Staffordshire Police have welcomed the prison sentence.
They praised the victim for her ‘bravery’ throughout the case.Detective Constable Ian Emmens said: “We treat reports of sexual abuse extremely seriously and sensitively.
We work closely with partners to ensure that we protect and support those who are the most vulnerable in our communities.“This result should demonstrate that we are committed to bringing offenders to justice.
I’d like to commend the victim on their bravery throughout the court process and they will continue to receive support from specially-trained partner agencies in the aftermath of their ordeal.”
