STALKER LEAVES WOMAN SO SCARED SHE MOVES HOME.
Daniel Hardman, aged 34, harassed his ex-partner by making repeated calls and sending messages, in addition to following her to her home. His persistent attempts to reach her occurred from December 20 through May 17, during which he engaged in unwanted contact.
The North Staffordshire Justice Centre was informed that his behavior caused the woman to feel unsafe and she has since been relocated.
Consequently, Hardman was sentenced to a two-year community order.
Prosecutor Lee Stone explained that the relationship between the defendant and the victim lasted six months until it ended in November following police intervention, which led to Hardman being removed from her residence.
Mr.
Stone stated, "After the end of November the defendant has consistently attempted to make contact with her.
She blocked his number but he went to real lengths to try and contact her." He continued, "He messaged her on social media including TikTok.
She seemed to have received a message from a stranger.
The conversation moved to discuss information which she knew was the defendant.
He made another account and contacted her again.
"He attended her property on January 3.
He was seen at the end of the street.
He attended again on January 4 and demanded his belongings back.
The police attended and he made off.
A lot of the messages he sent questioned the breakdown of the relationship." The victim said in her statement that although she has been rehoused, she no longer feels safe and is constantly vigilant, struggling to sleep.
Hardman, of Allendale Walk, Blurton, admitted to stalking.
In his defence, Kevin Mortlock mentioned that Hardman recently lost his father, which deeply affected him.
He now has additional responsibilities to his stepmother and siblings, and he expressed a desire to move forward positively.
As part of his community order, Hardman must attend 30 sessions of a Building Better Relationships program and undertake a 20-day rehabilitation activity.
Additionally, he received a two-year restraining order preventing contact with his ex-partner, from visiting her home, her mother’s address, her child's school, or her workplace.
Magistrates also ordered him to pay costs amounting to £85 and a surcharge of £114.
