STOKE-ON-TRENT PERVERT GETS SUSPENDED SENTENCE FOR GROOMING AND ASSAULT
Pervert Jason Ratcliff engaged in sexual activity with a schoolgirl.The 24-year-old took the teenager to Llandudno and stayed with her in hotels in Stoke-on-Trent and Derby.
He was caught on CCTV at the Stoke-on-Trent hotel grabbing and kissing the schoolgirl on two occasions.
And when he was arrested he was found in possession of 'sex products'.
Now Ratcliff has been sentenced to 15 months in prison, suspended for two years, at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.
Ratcliff, of Dorcas Drive, Blurton, pleaded guilty to two charges of sexual activity with a child.
Judge Richard McConaghy said the defendant would receive more help from the probation service than in custody.
The suspended sentence includes a 60-day rehabilitation activity requirement, 100 hours unpaid work, and a Building Better Choices programme.
He is now on the Sex Offenders' Register and subject to a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Judge McConaghy said: "You were stopped by police in Llandudno.
You had her in your car, along with two other teenagers, and you were under the influence of drugs.
"You were then in a Stoke-on-Trent hotel where you stayed with her and you were caught on CCTV with her twice.
On both occasions you were seen on CCTV grabbing and kissing her.
"You again were with her in a hotel, this time in Derby.
You had been spreading yourself across different geographical locations in order to not be found out what you were up to.
When you were arrested you were in possession of products plainly designed for sex purposes."
