TEACHER BANNED AFTER SHARING SEXUALLY EXPLICIT MESSAGES WITH CHILD
A former teacher who sent messages to a child saying "I was horny," and "you gay yet?" has been banned from the profession.Lianne Barclay was a teacher at Bridgewater High School in Warrington when concerns were raised about her conduct in relation to a child.
The Teacher Regulation Agency (TRA) Panel found her conduct to be sexually motivated and constituting a failure to maintain appropriate boundaries with a child under 16.
The panel viewed messages exchanged between March and July 2019, which included sexually explicit language and references to her private life.
Voice notes also contained inappropriate language and a suggestion of a sexual relationship.
Despite her claims of a non-sexual friendship and her view that the allegations were homophobic, the panel concluded her actions could lead to a sexual relationship.
As a result, the TRA chief executive confirmed she would be banned from teaching indefinitely and unable to apply for restoration of her eligibility.
