INVERNESS DOMESTIC ABUSER JAILED OVER TERRIFYING THREATS AND ARMED CONFRONTATION
Liam McIntosh, a man aged 33 from Inverness, has been sentenced to jail for his repeated and terrifying threats in a domestic abuse case.He terrorized his ex-partner by making violent threats, including threatening to burn down her house with her and her two children inside.
The court was told that McIntosh also confronted the woman at her home in Smithton while armed with an axe and a hammer, stating he would harm any police officers who attempted to intervene.
McIntosh has pleaded guilty to two charges of threatening behavior and one of assault, which involved pushing his partner and lunging towards her repeatedly.
During the proceedings, Inverness Sheriff Court heard details that on March 31, McIntosh was highly intoxicated when he stayed at the woman's property for six hours, during which he was verbally aggressive, pushed her into corners, and issued murder threats.
The following day, he returned and threatened to set fire to the house.
On September 10, at around 2.40 a.m., he returned with an axe and hammer, shouting in the garden, prompting the woman to contact police.
When officers responded, McIntosh ran but was eventually found hiding in her garden shed after multiple attempts to escape.
The sheriff described his conduct as 'terrifying' over several months, noting his previous record for violence, especially within domestic settings.
He was sentenced to nine months and two weeks in jail, backdated to September 11, 2023, when he was remanded in custody.
