GUESTHOUSE OWNER CAUGHT WITH SPY CAMERA FILMING WOMEN UNDRESSING GETS COMMUNITY ORDER
A guesthouse owner named Liam Elliott, aged 35, from Union Street, Larkhall in Lanarkshire, has been involved in a case where he secretly filmed women undressing using a spy camera concealed inside an alarm clock. He pled guilty to three charges, including voyeurism and two sex offenses, relating to unauthorized possession of a sex video, covering the period from May 1, 2019, to September 30, 2020.
The case was heard at Inverness Sheriff Court, where police revealed that they raided a property in Keith after receiving information about indecent images of children.
Although no such images were found, officers recovered videos involving three different women dressing and undressing at the guesthouse on Regent Street, as well as a consensually filmed sexual activity involving a couple.
Elliot was found to have obtained this film without consent and without the knowledge of the couple.
Police also seized two phones and a hidden camera alarm clock, which stored videos of the women, as well as a sex video retrieved from the device.
It was suggested that the video had been shared online by the couple involved, who knew Elliot, although no direct links to how Elliot obtained it were confirmed.
The court sentenced Elliott to perform 270 hours of unpaid community work, placed him on the sex offenders register for two years, and required him to attend a rehabilitation program titled “Moving Forward: Making Changes.” He also agreed to remain under social work supervision for two years.
The judge did not impose a jail sentence, instead opting for community-based measures and rehabilitation.
