PAEDOPHILE JAILED FOR SEXUALLY ABUSING GIRL IN CAR
A man responsible for sexually abusing a girl in his vehicle has received a sentence of six years in prison.Lewis Herman, then 20 years old, began communicating with the young girl via online messages, eventually arranging to meet her where he committed the abuse, as outlined in court proceedings at Newcastle Crown Court.
The victim described the ordeal as having an "overwhelming" effect, while a judge remarked that Herman, a Newcastle resident, significantly damaged her ability to lead a typical life.
Herman, who had prior convictions related to the possession of indecent images of children as young as four years old, was found guilty of charges including engaging in sexual activity with a minor.
The court was told that shortly after initiating contact with her on Snapchat, Herman started sending the girl sexual messages and videos of himself performing a sexual act.
He also asked her to send nude photos, some of which she agreed to provide, according to Recorder Martin Rose.
The court also heard that Herman assaulted her twice inside his car.
A statement read aloud during the hearing revealed that the girl felt "completely overwhelmed" and was reliving the traumatic events constantly.
"All I see is his face, what he did to me and how he manipulated me," she expressed.
Recorder Rose commented that the abuse had a profound impact on her, occurring during a period when she should have been enjoying her youth.
The judge indicated that Herman’s actions had severely hindered her ability to live a normal life expected for someone her age.
Furthermore, Herman was assessed as presenting a "very high risk" of committing further sexual offenses against children.
Now aged 21, Herman will also be required to register as a sex offender for life and adhere to a sexual harm prevention order for the next 10 years.
