LEWIS FORBES SENTENCED IN EDINBURGH FOR BRUTAL ABUSE IN INVERNESS AND THE HIGHLANDS
In a significant legal case at the High Court in Edinburgh, Lewis Forbes, a 34-year-old man with ties to Inverness, was handed a severe sentence of ten years in prison for a series of heinous crimes involving two women. The court heard that Forbes subjected his victims to a relentless campaign of sexual, physical, and psychological abuse over an extended period, spanning from October 2020 to June 2022, across various locations in the Highlands region.Judge Michael O’Grady KC delivered the verdict, condemning Forbes for his blatant lack of responsibility, insight, or remorse. The judge emphasized that Forbes’s actions were not only cruel but also demonstrated a profound disrespect for women in general. The court was told that Forbes had initially denied multiple charges brought against him but was ultimately convicted of seven serious offences, including rape, assault, and abusive conduct.
The details of the abuse were particularly disturbing. Court records revealed that Forbes had throttled his victims, held their heads underwater to threaten their lives, and engaged in sexual assaults and rapes in various locations within the Highlands. These acts of violence and sexual misconduct were carried out in a manner that showed a complete disregard for the victims’ safety and well-being.
Following his conviction, the judge ordered that Forbes be subject to community supervision for a period of three years after his release from prison. This supervision includes strict monitoring, with the possibility of re-imprisonment if he breaches the conditions of his licence. It was also noted that Forbes has a prior record, not primarily for similar offences, but he was previously registered on the sex offenders’ register, indicating a history of concerning behavior.
