2000: WIDNES MAN JAILED FOR REPEATED RAPE OF TEENAGE GIRL
A Widnes man who repeatedly raped a teenage girl who sought refuge in his home was sentenced to eight years in prison.
Leslie Lomax, 49, of Edinburgh Road, was found guilty on all five counts of rape and one of indecent assault by Warrington Crown Court.
During the four-day trial, the court heard that Lomax raped his victim, now 33, twice monthly over two years.
The victim, who came from a violent home, kept quiet for nearly 20 years due to shame and fear of disbelief.
She described various assaults including rape in a tent in front of a young boy, in a bedroom while another girl was asleep, in his home, and even being picked up from school to be raped in a layby.
Lomax was also accused of performing a sex act on a bus, and of whipping her with a garden cane and belt.
He claimed the relationship was consensual when she was over 16, but the court found him guilty.
