HARTLEPOOL MAN JAILED FOR 18-MONTH COERCIVE CONTROL CAMPAIGN
A jealous boyfriend has been sentenced to jail for his campaign of controlling and coercive behaviour.
Domestic abuser Lee Hakansson denied inflicting emotional and mental abuse on his ex-girlfriend for nearly 18-months.
The 30-year-old Hartlepool man also physically attacked the woman on June 13 of the previous year.
Hakansson denied the offences of assault causing actual bodily harm and his controlling conduct at Teesside Magistrates' Court.
He was tried at Middlesbrough court on April 16 and found guilty of both.
Hakansson, of Macrae Road, Hartlepool, repeatedly engaged in controlling or coercive behaviour from January 1, 2019, to June 13 of the previous year.
He assaulted the victim and inflicted emotional and mental abuse while they were in an 'intimate relationship.' His actions caused serious alarm and distress, significantly impacting her daily life.
The case was transferred to Teesside Crown Court for sentencing after the conviction.
Hakansson appeared there to learn his fate and was sentenced to 30 months in prison, along with an indefinite restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim.
