LAWRENCE MCKEE FROM YORKSHIRE CAUGHT WITH OVER 12,300 CHILD INDECENT IMAGES
Lawrence McKee, 38, of Copandale Road in Molescroft, Beverley, pleaded guilty to three counts involving the possession of indecent images of children.Prosecutor Maya Hanson revealed that on July 23, 2023, police were informed that images of a child in an indecent manner were linked to McKee’s internet activity.
When officers visited his home on September 28 of the same year, they seized multiple items.
These were subsequently examined and found to contain a vast collection of 12,334 images and videos involving children.
The material was classified into three categories based on severity: 457 in Category A, 231 in Category B, and 11,646 in Category C.
At least one victim appeared to be only one or two years old, with some images depicting pain or distress.
Chantelle Stocks, representing the defense, stated that McKee was willing to participate in probation services and agreed to the seizure and destruction of the evidence.
He had already registered as a sex offender and had admitted guilt at a hearing at Hull Magistrates’ Court.
He had no previous convictions.
Judge Mark McKone KC noted that McKee made honest disclosures about his actions and had taken initial steps to address the issue.
The images involved children being raped, including a child under two.
The judge emphasized that such images promote further abuse by encouraging others to produce similar material and carry out real-world crimes.
McKee acknowledged the charges and explained how he acquired the images, rather than denying or providing vague defenses.
The court sentenced McKee to a 10-month prison term suspended for recovery, with an obligation to complete 26 sex offender treatment sessions and 10 days of rehabilitation.
Additionally, a 10-year sexual harm prevention order was issued, and he must register as a sex offender for ten years.
The items seized will be destroyed.
The judge concluded with a warning that further offending would lead to immediate imprisonment, highlighting the importance of this opportunity for reform.
