OFFENDER KYLE DAVIES GUILTY OF BREACHING COURT ORDER IN NEWCASTLE
Kyle Davies, a 20-year-old man with a prior conviction for sexual assault in 2017, was found to have violated a court-imposed sexual harm prevention order by contacting a teenage boy via Xbox Live. The violation was uncovered when police visited his residence on Larkspur Grove, Newcastle, earlier this year, requesting to examine his social media profiles.
During the inspection, officers discovered that Davies had been communicating with a minor through the Xbox platform, constituting a breach of the court order.
Davies admitted to the breach when questioned at North Staffordshire Justice Centre.
Prosecutor Alicia Perry explained that police had gone to his address and examined his devices, uncovering the conversations.
This incident marked the third breach of his legal restrictions.
His defense lawyer, Mark Bromley, claimed that Davies responded to a message from the teenager but clarified that the communication was not of a sexual nature, despite still breaching the order.
The court convicted Davies of the offence and sentenced him to a £120 fine, along with costs of £185 and a £30 victim surcharge.
The magistrates highlighted that Davies is now fully aware of the conditions attached to his order and emphasized that any contact, whether verbal or digital, is considered a breach.
