SEXUAL PREDATORCAUGHT AFTER RETURNING TO THE SCENE OF ATTACK IN BATLEY
Krisztian Glonczi, a 23-year-old man from Kilpin Hill Lane in Dewsbury, Yorkshire, has been sentenced to a prison term exceeding five years following his conviction for serious sexual assault and theft charges.The sentencing took place at Leeds Crown Court on Wednesday, December 13, after Glonczi pleaded guilty to charges of attempted rape and theft related to an incident that occurred on Taylor Street in Batley earlier this year.
On the afternoon of September 11, police responded to reports of a disturbing assault in a wooded area near Taylor Street.
The victim, a woman in her twenties, had managed to fight off her attacker during the assault.
Despite her resistance, the assailant forced her to the ground and attempted to carry out a sexual assault.
During the struggle, he stole some of her personal belongings and subsequently discarded them nearby before fleeing the scene.
Law enforcement officers quickly launched an investigation into the incident.
During their inquiries, a HMET detective working in the area spotted a man matching the suspect’s description walking along the street.
Recognizing him from CCTV footage previously obtained, the detective stopped and arrested Glonczi.
It was revealed that Glonczi was not previously known to police, and further investigations uncovered that he had been stalking the victim prior to the attack.
In a significant development, authorities discovered that Glonczi had attempted to leave the country amidst the ongoing investigation.
However, his plans to escape were thwarted when he was unable to do so after losing his passport, preventing his departure from the UK.
Detective Inspector Guy Shackleton, who led the investigation, described Glonczi as a dangerous sexual predator.
He emphasised the courage of the victim, who fought off her attacker and reported the incident to authorities, which enabled the police to act swiftly.
Inspector Shackleton praised her bravery and highlighted the importance of victims coming forward to aid investigations.
He further stated, “Krisztian Glonczi is a dangerous sexual predator who stalked his victim before then attacking her in broad daylight.
The victim showed real courage in both fighting him off and then coming forward to report what had happened to her.
The victim’s actions enabled officers to very quickly mount a full investigation into what occurred and then identify Glonczi, a first-time offender who was not known to police.” Inspector Shackleton concluded by reaffirming the police’s commitment to treating sexual offence cases with the utmost seriousness, noting that such cases are often handled by specialised teams like the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team.
He encouraged victims of sexual offences to come forward, assuring them that law enforcement agencies are dedicated to providing the necessary support and ensuring justice is served.
