ELLON MAN SENTENCED TO FIVE YEARS FOR RAPING WOMAN
A man named Kristopher Mayo, aged 31 and formerly residing on Station Road in Ellon, was convicted of rape and assault after a court case in Edinburgh. The victim described being assaulted by Mayo at a house in Ellon on February 15 last year.
During the attack, Mayo pushed her onto a bed, forced her head into a duvet, restricting her breathing, and struggled with her, pinning her to the bed.
The woman explained she took photos of her injuries on her mobile phone afterward, which she sent to a relative for help.
These photos showed bruising on her chest, caused by Mayo restraining her, with her stating, 'He just pushed down.
It was like a dead weight on my chest.
It was hard to breathe.' The court heard that Mayo, who was 'Jekyll and Hyde', became angry after the woman started to get loud and shout 'No', flipping her onto a bed and pushing her face into the duvet and mattress.
The judge, Lady Scott, told Mayo that he had raped the woman despite her protests and distress.
Mayo denied the charges but was found guilty on a majority verdict of a sex crime.
He was sentenced to a five-year jail term, remanded in custody, and placed on the sex offenders' register indefinitely.
