KRISTOPHER GRIFFITHS FROM BARNSLEY SENTENCED FOR ABUSIVE CRIMES AGAINST YOUNG BOY IN SHEFFIELD
In a case that has shocked the local community, Kristopher Griffiths, a 30-year-old resident of Barnsley, was convicted of heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse of a young boy under the age of 10.The disturbing incidents took place in Barnsley, where Griffiths subjected the innocent child to repeated acts of sexual violence, including rape and coercing the boy to perform sex acts upon him.
During the proceedings at Sheffield Crown Court, it was revealed that Griffiths had instructed the young victim not to disclose the abuse, effectively silencing him through threats and manipulation.
The court heard that the young boy endured significant psychological trauma as a consequence of Griffiths' actions, which have left lasting scars on his mental health.
Judge Jeremy Richardson addressed Griffiths directly during sentencing, emphasizing the severity of his crimes and the impact on the victim.
The judge described Griffiths' conduct as “truly wicked” and underscored the importance of justice for the young boy.
Griffiths was sentenced to a total of 17 years in prison after admitting to two counts of child rape and one count of engaging in sexual activity with a minor.
In his remarks, Judge Richardson also expressed concern about the dangers that sex offenders face within the prison system.
He warned Griffiths that individuals convicted of such crimes are often targeted in custodial environments, highlighting the risks associated with his incarceration.
The judge stated, “I am aware that you will find prison particularly hard.
Offenders of your type, I’m afraid, face particular problems in the custodial environment.
I have all of that well in mind and all other various features in the case.” Furthermore, Griffiths was subjected to additional legal restrictions.
He was ordered to be subject to a lifelong sexual harm prevention order, which aims to monitor and restrict his activities to prevent further offenses.
Additionally, he will be registered on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely, ensuring ongoing oversight of his conduct and whereabouts.
