NEWPORT MEN FINED OVER HARE COURSING IN CAMBRIDGESHIRE
Two Newport men, John Turberville and Kirk Gibbons, have been jointly fined over £2,300 following their involvement in hare coursing in Cambridgeshire.
According to court reports, Gibbons pleaded guilty to hunting a wild mammal with dogs, while both men admitted trespassing with intent to search for or pursue hares using dogs in Wicken, a village near Soham.
The offences occurred on November 30 last year and were disclosed during a hearing at Newport Magistrates' Court.
Turberville, aged 45, of Bakers Court, Marshfield, was fined £1,666 with an additional surcharge of £666 and costs of £85.
Gibbons, aged 54, of Macauley Gardens, received a fine of £692, along with a surcharge of £277 and costs of £85.
The two men faced prosecution earlier this year for similar offences committed in Wiltshire in September 2024.
