KIMBERLEY ROSS FROM COLWYN BAY INVOLVED IN SHOCKING FACEBOOK SEXUAL IMAGE POSTING CASE
Kimberley Ross, a resident of Colwyn Bay, found herself at the center of a disturbing social media incident that has garnered significant attention from local authorities and the community alike. Ross, along with her co-defendant Lisa Bryn Jones, admitted to the serious offense of posting a sexually explicit image of another woman on Facebook, an act that a judge described as behavior that "beggared belief" for women of their age. Both women appeared before Caernarfon Crown Court to face charges related to this incident. It was revealed during the proceedings that the victim, who had previously exchanged flirtatious messages with Ross's husband, had sent him a nude photograph of her breasts. This exchange of intimate images was part of a flirtatious interaction that had taken place prior to the incident.
Following an argument between Ross and her husband, Ross made the decision to upload the explicit photo onto her Facebook account. The victim, upon discovering the post, initially had it removed. However, the image was subsequently reposted by Ross along with an abusive message directed at the victim, escalating the severity of the offense.
Lisa Bryn Jones, the co-defendant, contacted Ross to seek permission to share the photograph. Without hesitation, Ross uploaded the image again, further compounding the breach of privacy and decency. Both women were subsequently arrested by police. During police inquiries, Ross refused to respond or cooperate, while Jones later admitted her involvement in the matter.
In her sentencing remarks, Judge Huw Rees expressed profound disappointment in the actions of Ross and Jones, emphasizing the irresponsibility of their behavior, especially considering their roles as mothers. The judge highlighted the damaging impact such actions could have on the victim and the community.
As part of their sentencing, Kimberley Ross was handed a 20-week prison sentence, which was suspended for 18 months. She is also required to attend 35 sessions of a probation program designed to address her behavior. Lisa Bryn Jones received a 12-week suspended sentence for the same period and must participate in a 25-day rehabilitation program aimed at preventing future misconduct.
Furthermore, both women were issued Restraining Orders that prohibit them from contacting the victim or making any comments about her on social media platforms. This case serves as a stark reminder of the serious consequences of online misconduct and the importance of respecting individuals' privacy and dignity.
