TIMOTHY WILLIAMS OF COLWYN BAY SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS FOR ABUSING THREE GIRLS
In a case that has shocked the community of Colwyn Bay, Timothy Mark Williams, a 54-year-old man residing on Ffordd Cwstenin in Mochdre, was sentenced to a lengthy prison term after admitting to the sexual abuse of three young girls.The court heard that Williams had engaged in these heinous acts over a span of nearly a decade, grooming his victims for his own selfish and lustful purposes.
At Caernarfon Crown Court, Judge Huw Rees delivered a stern sentence, emphasizing the severity and prolonged nature of Williams' offending.
The judge stated, "Your offending involved no less than three complainants over a nine-year period.
You groomed them for your own selfish, lustful needs." He further described Williams as exhibiting all the hallmarks of a stealthy paedophile, highlighting the calculated and covert manner in which the abuse was carried out.
Williams was sentenced to 12 years in prison, with the judge explicitly stating that he would not be eligible for release on licence until the parole board determines that he no longer poses a risk to the public.
Additionally, the court extended the licence period by an extra six years, underscoring the ongoing concern for community safety.
Alongside the custodial sentence, Williams was subjected to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and was ordered to remain on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
Details of the case reveal that Williams had previously admitted to 23 charges of abuse during a court hearing last month, where he appeared for sentencing.
The prosecution, led by Jonathan Austin, explained that the abuse took place during the 1990s and early 2000s, involving three girls who were all under the age of 13 at the time of the offenses.
One of the victims, whose identity remains protected for legal reasons, had reported her abuse to police in 2003, but at that time, no further action was taken due to a lack of corroborative evidence.
Investigations into the case revealed that Williams had shifted his focus to other victims after the initial report.
The victims' personal statements, which were read out in court, detailed the profound emotional and psychological toll the abuse had inflicted.
One victim disclosed that she had made two serious suicide attempts, while all three victims reported suffering from depression, anxiety, and a significant loss of confidence as a result of Williams' actions.
The case only came to light last year when all three victims were interviewed separately, leading to the uncovering of the full extent of Williams' offending.
As he was led away from the court, Williams showed no visible emotion, and the community of Colwyn Bay now faces the difficult aftermath of this disturbing case.
