KIERAN MCFARLANE CAUGHT WITH BLADE ON AYR HIGH STREET AFTER SEX OFFENCES AND INDECENT IMAGES CASES

Kieran McFarlane, a young man with a troubling criminal history, was apprehended on Ayr High Street while in possession of a blade. The incident occurred amidst ongoing legal proceedings related to his previous offences.

McFarlane, aged 20 and currently residing on Lochlea Avenue, Mauchline, was found carrying an offensive weapon during a routine check. This arrest took place while he was already on bail for serious sexual offences, raising concerns about his compliance with legal restrictions.

The court heard that McFarlane had a disturbing history involving indecent images of children. He admitted to possessing a total of 174 indecent images, categorized across levels A, B, and C, along with 79 moving images, most of which depicted young females aged between zero and 16 years. These images were discovered at an address in Ayr during investigations spanning from February to October 2023.

In addition to the possession of indecent images, McFarlane also confessed to a sexual assault that took place when he was a teenager. The assault involved grabbing a female's breasts, making inappropriate sexual comments, kissing her neck, and attempting to touch her underwear during a party. These actions further underscore the pattern of concerning behavior linked to his past.

His recent court appearance on May 12 revealed that he had been found with a knife on August 22 of the previous year, while still on bail. The offence was committed on Ayr High Street, adding to the list of violations associated with his name.

Following the hearing, the judge decided to defer sentencing to allow for comprehensive background reports and assessments to be completed. McFarlane's bail was maintained, but the court imposed several restrictions to mitigate future risks. These included supervised contact with individuals under 16, monitoring of his internet activity, registration on the sex offenders register, and a five-year sexual harm prevention order. Additionally, he was placed under a supervision order for a period of three years, emphasizing the seriousness of his offences and the need for ongoing oversight.
