KIERAN INGLIS FROM METHILL ADMITS DOMESTIC ABUSE AND MANIPULATION IN DUNFERMLINE COURT

A 24-year-old man named Kieran Inglis, residing on Kirkland Walk in Methil, has pleaded guilty to a series of abusive behaviors directed towards his partner, which included physical violence and controlling tactics.

The case was heard at Dunfermline Sheriff Court, where Inglis admitted to engaging in a pattern of harmful conduct that took place at a residence in Rosyth as well as other locations throughout 2023.

According to court reports, Fiscal depute Annie MacDonald detailed an incident in which the victim, feeling unwell, asked Inglis to refrain from smoking.

In response, Inglis reacted violently by smashing her phone against a wall and physically assaulting her.

He punched her in the face, causing her to fall to the ground.

This act of violence marked a serious escalation in the abusive behavior he exhibited.

Despite the assault, Inglis returned to the scene hours later.

During this visit, he allegedly advised the woman to hide her facial injuries by wearing glasses and letting her hair down, suggesting an attempt to conceal the evidence of the attack.

On the same day, the victim’s mother noticed the bruising on her daughter.

Both Inglis and the woman then pretended that nothing had happened, attempting to dismiss the injuries.

Inglis reportedly expressed suspicion that her mother was becoming suspicious of the situation.

The following day, a dispute arose when the woman asked to use Inglis’s phone to contact her mother.

Inglis refused her request, which led to another argument.

Shortly afterward, Inglis left and ceased all contact with her.

Further investigations revealed that Inglis had transferred £50 from the woman’s bank account to an account in his own name without her permission.

Additionally, she lost access to her email and data stored on a new mobile device, indicating a pattern of manipulative and controlling behavior.

During the court proceedings, Inglis’s solicitor acknowledged his client’s responsibility for his actions and issued an apology.

The sheriff responded by imposing a two-month structured deferred sentence, meaning Inglis will serve a period of supervision instead of immediate imprisonment.

Furthermore, a two-year non-contact order was issued, prohibiting him from approaching or communicating with the victim.

The case has been scheduled for review on August 13 to assess progress and compliance with the court’s orders.
