METHIL DOMESTIC ABUSER KEVIN DRYSDALE FINED FOR ASSAULTING FORMER PARTNER
February 2022: A man from Fife facing charges of assaulting his former partner was fined and ordered to compensate her financially.Kevin Drysdale, aged 36 and residing on Alder Terrace in Methil, appeared before Sheriff Craig McSherry at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.
Drysdale confessed that on April 18, 2021, at his home, he assaulted his ex-partner and spat on her.
The Procurator Fiscal Depute explained that the couple had been together for several years.
On the day of the incident, at around 1:00 pm, the complainant went to his residence to collect her belongings.
When Drysdale saw her, he questioned her presence, which led to raised voices and an argument.
During the altercation, he spat on her twice.
Afterward, he walked away, but she pursued him.
An ensuing struggle occurred in a vehicle, after which she exited and contacted the police.
Drysdale’s legal representative stated that her client and the complainant had separated prior to the incident.
She added that an argument had occurred a few days earlier, and on the day of the assault, the complainant returned to the property, prompting another dispute.
The lawyer acknowledged her client’s responsibility and admitted he could have chosen to walk away, but did not.
She also noted that emotions were heightened that day and that reconciliation was unlikely.
The judge sentenced Drysdale to a £245 fine and ordered him to pay £250 in compensation.
