'EMOTIONAL BLACKMAILER' ATTACKED EX AND MAN
Kier Adam-Nuhoglo inundated the woman with numerous messages, including a video call made when he was lying on a grave, and subsequently led police on a high-speed chase in her stolen vehicle, the Newcastle Crown Court was told.He also caused a man's jaw to fracture in two locations during an unprovoked incident on a night out in Newcastle.
The 25-year-old defendant pleaded guilty to charges including causing grievous bodily harm intentionally, engaging in coercive or controlling behavior, strangulation, burglary, and dangerous driving.
The first incident occurred outside Rusty's Bar in Newcastle around 03:45 GMT on 13 March 2024, as explained by prosecutor Omar Ahmad.
According to court proceedings, the victim was with friends when Adam-Nuhoglo, residing at Cragside Gardens in Lobley Hill, Gateshead, approached him shouting and pointing.
The two men did not know each other, and the victim was unsure of Adam-Nuhoglo's anger, but the situation appeared to settle after they spoke and shook hands.
However, Adam-Nuhoglo then removed his jumper and wrapped it around his face to hide his identity before punching the victim at least twenty times in the head and face.
The assault resulted in a double jaw fracture, requiring the insertion of a metal plate, the court heard.
The victim stated in a court-read statement that the attack was completely unprovoked and that he was now unable to participate in sports like American football and rugby.
In September 2025, after a two-and-a-half-year relationship, Adam-Nuhoglo’s partner broke up with him due to his repeated infidelity, Ahmad said.
Prior to the breakup, the woman had previously reconciled with him after he expressed that he couldn't live without her, fearing he might self-harm.
But when she refused to rekindle their relationship again, Adam-Nuhoglo sent her numerous messages amounting to emotional blackmail, including telling her he couldn't continue without her and making a video call while lying on his father's grave.
On 11 October, she met him in Newcastle city centre, where he assaulted her by throwing her to the ground and pinning her against a wall by her neck, the court was told.
Later that night, Adam-Nuhoglo broke into her home through the living room window, strangled her in her bed, and stole her car.
He reached speeds of up to 94 mph on the Felling bypass, ran a red light at 80 mph, and was later found lying near his crashed, heavily damaged vehicle, court proceedings revealed.
In his defense, it was noted that Adam-Nuhoglo lacked a driver’s license and had prior convictions for assault, affray, and cocaine possession, and he also has mental health issues.
A five-year restraining order was issued preventing him from contacting his ex-partner, and he was also banned from driving for three years and five months, with an extended test required before regaining his license.
