PERTH ELECTRICIAN ‘TERRORISED’ EX AND HELD HER CAPTIVE IN HIS FLAT
Kevin Watt, 40, a Perth electrician, tricked his ex-girlfriend into returning to his flat by pretending to be sorry for his past abuse.
Once inside his Victoria Street flat, he headbutted her, sank his teeth into her face, and detained her overnight to prevent her from returning to her children.
Watt admitted to a course of abusive and violent behavior towards his ex from June 4 to December 18 last year, including detaining her against her will and making threats to kill her and a family member.
He had previously threatened to chop off her head and was jailed for 11 months in June for breaching a non-harassment order through menacing voicemails, including 54 messages in six-and-a-half hours.
The sheriff deferred sentence for background reports to consider post-release supervision, and Watt, listed as a prisoner at HMP Polmont, was kept in custody.
At Perth Sheriff Court, defence agent Lyndsey Barber acknowledged the behaviour was 'repugnant.' Sheriff Simon Collins KC ordered Watt to complete 300 hours of unpaid work, remain at home between 9pm and 6am for six months under a restriction of liberty order, and placed him on supervision for two years, requiring engagement with the Caledonian Programme for domestic offenders.
A five-year non-harassment order was also issued.
