SAUCHIE MAN ADMITS TO RAPE AND IS PLACED ON SEX OFFENDERS' REGISTER
A man named Kevin Stolarek, aged 31, from Sauchie, confesses to raping a university student and subsequently reports the crime to the police.The incident occurred on December 21 of the previous year.
The victim, a woman he had previously befriended, described how they spent time watching films and sharing updates about Stolarek’s sister, who had cancer.
One morning, after waking up, Stolarek started touching her against her will, despite her protestations to stop.
He initially hugged her but then moved on to trying to kiss her, moving her underwear aside and ignoring her repeated "no" and "stop" commands.
The victim, feeling overwhelmed and crying, lay still as he realized he had gone too far, apologized, and left her.
Before leaving, he encouraged her not to yell or hit him but acknowledged the assault.
Soon after, he contacted the police, admitting to the rape, and expressed concern for her welfare.
When police arrived at his home, he admitted the offense openly, saying, "It's all true I am not going to deny it." During court proceedings at Edinburgh High Court, Stolarek pleaded guilty to the serious offence, which was characterized by some "unusual" circumstances.
The court learned that the woman was supporting him as a friend, and his actions occurred in the context of their close relationship.
The judge, Lord Burns, noted the severity of the offence, which involved ignoring her repeated refusals, and placed him on the sex offenders' register.
The sentencing is scheduled to take place next month after a background report is completed, with bail being continued for the time being.
